International press in U.K and Europe
Paddy, an
ex-cavalry officer, is the eldest son of the late Raja of
Sheikhupura. He studied in one of British India's finest public
schools - Bishop Cotton, in Simla, which was his home town.
After retiring from the army he did a couple of years with the
Border Police on the Himachal Indo-Tibet border, and became very
familiar with trekking routes, now open, but which were then
closed to foreigners, before joining the State Tourism Dept. He
was the Tourist officer at Manali for 6 years. He later worked
for a number of years with West Himalayan Holidays, one of the
first professional trekking agencies from the UK. With them he
led a number of treks each year, till they closed down, and then
started his own company.
One of the agents he handled, were the Ramblers of UK and
conducted their very successful walking holidays in the
Himalayas, till unfortunate floods in the Kulu Valley put a halt
to their operations there. While his porters are still based in
Manali, he still accompanies and leads many treks in the lower
and greater Himalayas. His major business comes from the UK, and
Europe
Paddy’s Treks operates Adventure Holidays throughout the
Himalayas, be it trekking or just walking tours. Other walking
holidays are organised in Rajasthan and the Nilgris in
the South.
